  2. Sep 13, 2018 Zeplin. Despite the fact that Zeplin is much more of an additional tool, many UI designers can not imagine their design work process in Sketch or Photoshop without Zeplin’s apps getting.

You can import PNG images as static screens into a project from the Mac app. To do this, go into the project that you want to import the images and select “Edit > Import PNGs…” option from the desktop menu up top.

You can select any PNG image and click “Import” button from the revealed menu. Selected PNGs will be uploaded to your project as static images without any layers details.

☝️ Since this is an image not exported via the plugin, it will not contain any technical resources like layers, assets and code snippets for screens imported as PNGs. To export the screens with their technical resources, you need to export them directly from the design tools through the plugins.

I came to know about Zeplin through one of our clients. Zeplin is a collaboration tool between designers and developers. It helps in generating style guides and resources automatically.

Zeplin Sketch Plugin

I faced an issue when exporting the assets from Zeplin. The images size (@1x, @2x, @3x) seemed to differ than the required size. I found that, it is because I had chosen the wrong screen size (density) while importing the Sketch file (screen).

So when you import the Sketch file into Zeplin, make sure you choose the right density same as what you had used in Sketch.
